We tell you regularly how your site is doing
Unlike tools such as Google Analytics, our product is meant for somebody who does not work in IT.
We respect visitors’ privacy: the measurement loads no third-party code or services, and we hand the measured data to no analytics service.
You get an e-mail at regular intervals with how your site is doing and with suggestions for anything worth changing.
- 1 We measure without cookies
- 2 The data stays with us
- 3 We show only what was really measured
Why our own analytics
What we measure
Without consent we measure only what happens on your site — how many visits the site recorded, which pages were opened, how long they stayed open and whether anybody clicked the phone number or the e-mail address. For a basic picture of traffic and of how visitors behave, that is enough.
If a visitor gives us consent, we additionally measure technical details of their browser — window size, language, light or dark mode, support for modern image formats — and whether they come back. The first group says which devices to tune the site for; the second, whether people remember the site.
We respect privacy
For the measurement we store nothing in the visitor’s browser and read nothing from it — which is why the basic measurement can run without consent. The only things the site always remembers are the chosen language and the privacy settings; both stay in the browser, are sent nowhere and have nothing to do with the measurement.
We are not interested in an individual visitor; we are interested in how visitors to the site behave in general.
Therefore:
- We do not store the IP address. It is used once to compute a fingerprint of the visit, and after that not at all.
- We store no name, no e-mail address and nothing else you could recognise a visitor by.
- The fingerprint of a visit is computed afresh every day and comes out different, so we cannot join anybody up across days.
- We do not hand the measured data to Google or to any other third-party analytics service.
- A “returning visitor” is counted from a single value stored — with consent — in the visitor’s browser: the list of days on which they visited the site. Only the number of days goes into the statistics, never the value itself.
What we will not tell you
It is fair to say that some things we cannot measure (and do not want to).
Keywords from search engines
We do not ask third parties, because we do not “know” the visitor.
Who exactly was on the site
We do not know and do not want to. We store no IP address and nothing that would put a name to a visitor.
One person’s path across days
The fingerprint of a visit changes every day. We know how many visits were repeat visits, not who made them.
I am interested
The analytics is available to our clients only. We would be glad to count you among them.
